After looking at and researching into different sense of place photographers I came across the photographer Remi Thornton. His work captures scenes using different contrasts in lighting. Thornton’s photographs use aperture value to capture the detail of buildings and scenes; the use of aperture value helps to blur out the background to emphasise the images.

Thornton’s images create a sensation of anticipation because of the use of light and shade in his images. The use of light in the images has inspired me because I think it helps to draw the viewers attention because it makes you feel like you don’t know what is going to happen next in the images, they create a sense of mystery. I am going to use Thornton’s influence in the production and editing of my images. Landscape photography is something which I am rather interested in, especially when exploring a sense of place.
