DE FACTO – Behind-the-Scenes

Below is the Behind-the Scenes mini-magazine. This will be inside each magazine of the June issue, giving a behind-the-scenes insight into the magazine, such as the photo shoots. I think this is an important thing to explore as it is engaging the reader – you don’t normally see the making of the magazine. DE FACTO…

Magazine Cover

The aim of the magazine cover is to entice people to pick up the magazine and look inside. As a new brand, the magazine isn’t as established yet, and so it is even more important to have an engaging cover. I had to be careful, as whilst my magazine promotes diversity, the choice of cover…

Creole Climate

This shoot is part of the Culture Club editorial of DE FACTO magazine, and this month we investigated Creole culture. Magazine Name – Initial Ideas

I wanted a magazine name that represented inclusiveness and covered everyone. Below are the shortlist of names, and experiments of different fonts in both lower case and caps. I particularly like the middle bottom and top right font, and the names BLANKETĀ  and DE FACTO stand out to me most.

The birth of DE FACTO magazine

My original statement of intent detailed how I was going to create a magazine based on different cultures from around the world, with each issue focusing on a different one, and so to educate the public on diverse cultures. After tutorials, I developed the idea further to expand on the idea of diversity in general…
