December saw a flurry of activity, gluing on the side planks. It definately took a while to get the hang of exactly what was expected. Each piece had to start and finish in the right place – not always easy or in practice, accurate. It does feel odd simply gluing everything together, the more traditional way would be to rivet each piece together using hundreds of rivets, a practice continued into steel ship making. I cant always get to the workshop and often feel frustrated as I am treating this whole project as something experiential rather than carefully prepared through study. Although my previous experience in wood working is hard to ignore.
