the keel

Its proving to be a task uploading these pictures today, I don’t know why. Working away with John yesterday made me realise how rusty I have become. It took two goes to make an accurate router jig to cut out the slot in the keel for the centre board to drop through! The accuracy is there but not the speed as with the scarfs that join three pieces of oak together.

the keel is scarfed together to obtain the length required. It is then glued onto the fore and aft bows.
