Alternative medicines and holistic healing are becoming favoured forms of therapy in today’s society.

Reiki is non-physical form of spiritual healing to help you fix your alignment and unblock your chakras. You have seven chakras that run through the centre of our bodies, crown, third eye, throat, heart, solar plexus, sacral and root.

Tessa Gilsenan, a Reiki therapist defines Reiki as “free energy.” She says, “It’s life force energy, there’s so much life force energy to spare, and what I do is I tune into it and channel it through my hands and into people who need it.”

Reiki is purely spiritual and requires a belief in Reiki being guided by a Higher Intelligence. The value of Reiki is that it is guided by the Higher Intelligence, it knows exactly where to go and how to respond to restrictions and negative thoughts in the human body.

What Does Reiki Consist Of?

The Reiki route of healing originated in Japan, the Western Reiki healing follows the same basic healing features including:

Safe: No one can do harm with Reiki energy.

Intelligent: The energy knows where to go and how to help.

Natural: No tools are needed, the Reiki Master channels the energy through their hands.

Gentle: Reiki Master will place their hands above the body or softly on the body.

Lifelong: By studying one of the three Reiki degrees you have the ability to channel Reiki for life.

Compatible with all religions: Anyone can practice Reiki, no matter what their religions or beliefs are. Reiki is relaxation and healing.

Reiki and Grief

A body needs energy to be healthy, we receive energy from food, exercise and being outside in nature. Grief is an energy-depleting emotion and if we don’t do anything to stop this energy being depleted from our body during this time, we become to feel worse. Reiki can balance and strengthen the flow of energy within your body. The energy will flow into your body to activate or enhance your natural healing process.

“When you’re grieving, it’s a matter of balancing out the misery and disappointment of your loss. You need to be able to see past that and see a way out that allows you to go through, the most traumatic time of your life and be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel.”

Receiving Reiki

There is no limit on how much Reiki you get, if you feel one session is enough, there is no pressure to go again. Most people feel a sense of relaxation and peace

A complete Reiki session requires you to be fully clothed, lying on a treatment bed or sitting

in a chair. “The only way to find out if Reiki is right for you, is to experience it first off.” Reiki Master Tessa has said, “You will find that you can relate to what’s been happening in the treatment and whether it makes you feel settled and peaceful and calm and able to continue on your path.”

The session is done without talking, the practitioner may have ambient music playing in the background. This will help you feel at ease and receive maximum comfort and relaxation.

Learning Reiki

We can learn Reiki to treat ourselves and people we know, there are three levels of training to reach a Reiki Master level.

1st Degree: You will study the history of Reiki, learn how to perform on yourself and how to give someone else Reiki healing. You will become attuned for life to this Reiki energy.

2nd Degree: You will learn how to use the first three Reiki symbols and how to perform Reiki from a distance. After this you will become a Reiki Practitioner

3rd Degree: You become a Reiki Master after you receive the Master Reiki attunement and learnt the Master Reiki symbol. You will learn how to give others Reiki attunements.

 

5 Usui Principles

These principles are a guideline for all Reiki practitioners and for those who wish to live their live to fully embody the Reiki energies.

Stress is a major issue in all of our lives, if you try for one day to stop worry so much, it could help you have a happier day.

Just for today, I will not be angry.

If you find yourself feeling angry, take a deep breath and let go all the anger.

Just for today, I will be grateful.

The law of attraction says that the energy we give out attracts similar energies. If we are positive about our surroundings and express gratuity for what we have, it can attract more good.

Just for today, I will do my work honestly.

Doing this will bring purpose and meaning to your life. If you do your work honestly, you will feel more fulfilled with the work you have done in the day.

Just for today, I will be kind to every living thing.

When we are kind to others we feel better about ourselves. Everyone deserves love and kindness, and what we give out to the world, we receive back.
