Mindful Sustainability: This trend is similar to the others in that it also is a from of a reaction to our chaotic world, yet it is actually about being more ‘in touch’ with our environment. It reflects the idea that the consumer is becoming increasingly more aware of how there clothing impacts our environment. This trend is about feeling more engaged end emotionally connected to the surroundings and being ‘mindful’ when making purchases. As veganism and environmentalism grows the consumer it making a consistently  conscious effort to make a positive impact for the better.

Trend : Escapism through fantasy. Faced with a turbulent political climate, the natural response is to ‘escape’.This trend is based on removing oneself from reality through surrealism and play. It depicts a whimsical, dream like aesthetic that draws upon childlike elements of play. Think clothing that completely contradicts the contours of the body, unconventional fabrics and bold colours. The colours I have chosen for this trend while some are bright, they are all harmonious. I didn’t want them to be too intense, but rather to subtly imply playfulness and surrealism through a calming dream like aesthetic. The bold colours solidify the element of ‘play’.

Trend: an eye for detail

This trend is about fashion as a form of art. As the world remains in a politically chaotic state, people turn to art and creativity as a form of release. This draws upon the ‘anti anxiety’ concept on the WGSN 2019 manifesto. The consumer will become consistently  more engaged with their clothing as another  form of creative outlet. They will pay more attention to the small details and focus on how  what they wear reflects self image. The continuing rise of social media and bloggers emphasises the continuing interest in reflecting who you are through carefully composed outfits. As WGSN states the focus on self will continue as a form of ‘anti-anxiety’.

Trend : self expression and individuality

Trend: self expression and individuality. This trend is about being absolutely  confident with your self, it reflects the continuing  growth of diversity and individuality. It focuses on embracing uniqueness. This may be through art, fashion, music etc or simply being confident in your own skin and showing the world yourself in your truest form. The colours I chose for this trend are  bright pink, yellow and orange, because together they create an impactful aesthetic, that exudes confidence and charisma.

End of Project thoughts

Final Zine Cover

Part of me is pleased with the outcome of the  final zine. Despite this I think I could have developed some of my ideas further. I was really pushed for time at the end, because I only began to develop a distinctive style at the end of the project, meaning I left myself little time to continue experimentation. However, I do think my zine effectively communicates my concept of personal style. When creating each spread I was consciously considering each persons  individual style, reflecting this through use of space especially. For example blank space would represent a minimalistic style. I also like the flow of the zine; the strong colour scheme and diversity in shapes works well to create an outcome that is interesting to look at.
