Louis Vuitton exhibition

On October 12 we went to the Series 3 Louis Vuitton exhibition in London for the AW2015 collection by Nicolas Gesquière, which was an enriching and interesting experience that influenced my vision of the brand, made me understand the brand and indentify with it in some ways. It indeed was an immersion into the Louis Vuitton world, a gateway to a clearer understanding of the imaginative and creative process of the designer, as well as the history, values and vision of the brand. Nicolas’ idea of celebrating the past projecting the future for his collection was very inspirational.

The exhibition was a journey through Ghesquière’s creative process. It encouraged a connection between the clients and the fashion house, through the interactive and sensory experience that the different rooms offered: the opportunity to touch and feel the different fabrics, to emotionally engage with the different products, familiarize with the manufacturing techniques, learn about the tradition and heritage of the brand, etc all within an atmosphere of virtual imagery, technology, sounds…

There was a tribute to the future of fashion, as well as to the preservation and maintenance of the heritage and the brand’s identity. Ghesquiere took inspiration from the heritage and tradition of the house, brought back the essence of the brand in a modern way, creating the Petit Malle and bigger trunks with futuristic designs. He plays with the sense of utility, which was the aim of the brand originally (as it sold travelling trunks and baggage), and art, conceiving bags with the form of trunks customized for a 21st C person, thus resulting in a retro chic  design.
