Comparison

Something I am finding really hard while creating work in lockdown is that I find myself continually comparing my process and my work with other people in my class. I usually really enjoy group tutorials and crits as I love seeing everyone else’s work, and having discussions on everyone’s projects as a whole. I find this really inspiring and I always leave with a new burst of energy to want to create more. However, while working from home I am seeing everyone posting their new websites and images on Instagram and it keeps worrying me. I just keep realising that some people where further along in their process before lockdown so have more collaborative high-production level editorials. This does upset me as this is really what I wanted for my project also, and obviously if I knew what was coming in terms of Covid-19 I would’ve shot my content a lot earlier. However, I was just trusting my process and starting small and experimenting and then I was going to end with big editorials. I feel like there is no point in worrying and comparing my work to others, I have worked really really hard in this lockdown period to carry on creating and pushing through, so hopefully my work is just as good as it would’ve been if I created fashion editorials with a whole team, now it is just different and more personal.
