MAENADS

Designer Sinéad O’Dwyer’s has created these wearable sculptures to exaggerate the female form as a collection of women celebrate their bodies through independent touch and movement against a brightly lit studio backdrop. I am so overwhelmed by these images and the fashion film Showstudio also created, as I feel it perfectly shows me how I can use my sculptures in a fashion context. My sculptures have often been viewed in a fine art context, so I now want to take inspiration from Maenads and instead see how I can make my sculptures wearable. I like how these images also distort the body, I want to experiment with my scanner and see if I can distort my imagery further.
