Introduction to Rock-It-Ball

PGCE and School Direct PE trainee teachers were introduced to a new innovation when they took part in a Rock-it-ball workshop. Since its launch Rock-It-Ball has spread rapidly through schools in the UK and has also started to be adopted by colleges and universities.

Over 120 pupils from eight special schools in East Sussex attended an inclusive sports festival held at the School of Sport and Service Management in Eastbourne. The event was run and organised by PGCE and School Direct trainee Physical Education teachers

Cheerleading workshop

Power bike trials get going

The University of Brighton has been awarded more than £36,000 to trial a fleet of 20 power bikes. The Electrically-Assisted Power Cycles (EAPCs) will be for hire and will be available between the university’s campus in Eastbourne and the town’s railway station.

Inclusive physical activity workshop

PE and Dance students at the School of Sport and Service Management took part in a whole day of inclusive sport and physical activity as part of their preparation for their forthcoming school placements. The emphasis of the day was on equity and inclusion within the secondary school PE and dance curriculum.
