A sunny induction for PG students

The Sunshine Coast kept true to its name for the whole week as postgraduate students at the School of Sport and Service Management begun their induction programme.

Course leaders designed an induction week that was both challenging, yet fun and inspiring. One of the highlights of the week was the sessions delivered by Dr Paul Frost, Director of the Hastings Campus, and another the cheese and wine reception evening which was masterfully organised by Linda Birnie and Karen Theodoulides.

Students were asked what they most enjoyed about the week and many cited Paul Frost’s talk; other comments included:

    • “Hands on approach”
    • “Meeting and interacting with new tutors and students”
    • “The very warm welcome, I have been out of HE for a long time and was anxious – No need to be! 🙂 “
    • “Feeling part of the group – shared journey”
    • “I liked the interactive workshops as well as the opportunity to meet and get to know fellow students from all over the world.”

You can see highlights of the week in this short film:

Postgraduate students were also given the chance to enrol for two overseas field trips. The first was a field trip to The Gambia, which has been on-going for some time and attracts both postgraduate and undergraduate students; it is often described by students as a once in a life-time experience. The second was a new field trip being piloted solely for postgraduate students to the underdeveloped island of Leros, Greece.

Keep up to date with the latest postgraduate news on the new blog.
