PE students perform at The Dance Space

Students studying Physical Education BA(Hons) with QTS and Sport and Exercise Science with PE BSc(Hons) took part in a dance performance module assessment evening.

The students created and performed an original piece of choreography as well as selecting accompaniment, costume and lighting.  The performance took place at The Dance Space in Brighton.

Performing at The Dance Space was an amazing experience for the students, giving them the opportunity to dance in a professional space, with technical support to create the appropriate mood and atmosphere. The audience of family and friends showed wonderful support for all pieces, and having an audience clearly raised the performance bar for all.

Students will be awarded an individual mark for their performance, and a group mark for the choreography, followed by a lecture demonstration related to aspects of pedagogy.

Senior lecturer and module lead Lucy Pocknell said: “The student teachers will teach dance as part of their final school placement experience, and will now be able to do so with full confidence.

“It has been a very enjoyable module to lead, with a positive , high-quality outcome.”
