My attitude to email marketing

I never read my emails unless I know there is something there that I need. When I sign up to services online I will consciously opt-out of marketing materials as I know that I will have an inbox saturated with marketing materials.

Format and Style

The email received from PC Specialist uses consistent design in line with its website branding. The header and footer contain the logo and relevant contact information for after-sales support.

 

Content

The emails content is in depth; offering links to the main site and more specifically the forums they host allowing pc builders to use the community to receive advice. The email contains an in-depth breakdown of lead times based on specification chosen. This sort of depth builds consumer confidence in the brand as the products are high ticket items consumers will want to feel informed. The firm is demonstrating its strong capability to deliver what is promised.

The email also advises as lead times are fairly long to account for build times that the firm will offer you regular updates to demonstrate the progress of the build and adjust customer expectations.

Strengths of the email

This sort of order email is expected from online shoppers to confirm orders however with such an expensive investment PC Specialist has utilised this opportunity to build consumers confidence in there service.

PC Specialist link out to community forums and to the various contact methods for the company this reassures the consumer of their purchase.

Weaknesses of the email

The email was very text heavy and could have been broken up with some graphics otherwise the text looks quite intimidating and it leaves the possibility open to customers reading the subject line and being satisfied with that.

The email could have capitalised on the opportunity to cross-sell products such as accessories from mouse, keyboard or even monitors.

Overall

To sum up the email made good use of the information it included and built customer confidence. There are some improvements to make, however customers would typically use this email for information so it being text heavy may not necessarily hold too much of a negative effect.
