During the final week leading up to AD139’s deadline, I went to re-visit the Tate Modern to gain some final inspiration as well as view some of their latest exhibitions to gain some inspiration for future projects. Whilst there was several exhibitions I had already seen, there was some slight alterations. This includes the work of Andy Warhol’s, which was part of the female figures in media exhibition. This was a powerful and strong exhibition with controversial pieces. It was great to see the material worlds exhibition again as I thoroughly enjoyed it the first time. The unconventional work of Sheela Gowda of the sculptural work with car bumpers and actual human hair was almost disturbing. From a distance, it could be argued that it isn’t actual hair but I captured an unclose shot to draw attention to the human hair qualities. Alongside this, the work of Lorna Simpson’s – ‘Five Day Forecast’ was fascinating. The photographic piece is said to be almost an ‘anti-portrait.’ This term provoked me to look into the work of Lorna’s in more depth. The way Lorna has captured only the torso of the figure suggests to the viewer that figure is at distance/ inaccessible.
