During week 16, I mainly focused on continuing to put together my final magazine, focusing on the layout and design of my publication. Alongside this, I have been completing the content. For example, this week I planned and conducted an interview with artist Chris Newson in his studio/ art gallery space in Suffolk. The interview focused on the ideas around chaos and calm within his creative practice. We discussed how the process of painting brings an element of calm into his life. It is perhaps a form of self therapy; a self soother for the artist. Conversely, we spoke about how the art itself can be quite chaotic in both visually and in meaning as Chris’ art is a form of expressing his emotion.
Alongside this, I also planned and completed my final fashion shoot for my magazine. This shoot was about exploring the ideas of chaos through awkward styling of clothes and settings. In other words, I styled the model in strange/ unconventional combinations and took the photographs outside an old caravan with a floral armchair. I think the juxtaposition worked. The chaos was despited but in a subtle way, which I think worked successfully. To improve the shoot, I feel I could of perhaps re-located for some outfits/ looks so that there was an element of variety. One reason as to why I was unable to do this was because the weather was very unpredictable that day so we had a limited timeframe where we would take the photos. another reason was costings and the difficulty of travelling to different locations. However, delisted this, I am still pleased with the imagery despite this.
