This distinctive Graphic Design MA is an enriching and advanced programme for both graphic designers looking to push their practice in ambitious new directions and creatives wanting to move into the field.
You will be encouraged to explore a range of processes and media to establish your research aims as well as social, political and environmental issues. The course focus is on both traditional and contemporary aspects of typography, encouraging the use of archival collections for areas such as exhibition design and curation. You will also be encouraged to refer to a diversity of writing about the subject in relation to the most pressing debates in contemporary society.
The course provides many hands-on workshops with experts in the field from screen-printing and book arts to digital 3D printing and laser cutting. There are various opportunities to work in collaboration with community and art institutions such as the CCA Gallery, Brighton.
We encourage entering competitions and live briefs such as the ISTD membership programme and have enjoyed working with partnership projects such as the Grass Roots Suicide Prevention Project
Some of the students won the opportunity to work on a paid research project between science and the arts through the Universities Creative Futures programme.
A high percentage of last year’s graduating students have gone into the design industry from animation studios to advertising agencies.
