Graduate Recruitment Bureau (GRB) – Why we offer Placements opportunities
Offering placements is second nature to us. We were founded by two Brighton Business School alumni, both of whom did placements, so we’re keen to offer undergraduates the chance to develop with us. That said, we don’t do this out of charity. Our placement students are given real jobs from day one and trained in the same way any new starter is. We subsequently expect, and get, excellent results. Previous placement students have contributed enormously. One was given the chance to temporarily run a division. Another suggested an idea for a process that is now fundamental for how we work.
We give them serious topics for their placement projects on issues that offer us key business insight. For example, one of our current placement students will be researching how students and graduates want us to interact with them and advising on future strategy. Every year at least one placement student has achieved a first in their project.
Three of our current full-time staff are former placements who returned after their studies, in fact, some never leave, working part time for us in their final year alongside their studies. Not everyone wants to come back but working in the graduate recruitment industry means you are extremely well placed to get yourself the job you want. One of our placement students secured a role in HR on the BT graduate scheme. Finally, the network you build here can help. One of our consultants placed one of our placement students into a £35k role on a graduate scheme with a bank. That was a real win-win!
