Today there was a drawing workshop focusing on the face. We partnered up and drew each other, looking at different facial expressions and tone. All of these drawings were timed so I worked a lot quicker than I normally would and I feel that my drawings look slightly rushed. Nonetheless, I enjoyed this workshop and I found it helpful as drawing faces is something that I always find quite difficult and this workshop helped me with the proportions of the face. I also found this workshop helpful as I have started thinking about character design for my self directed project. I did struggle to show the different facial expressions, but I think with more time and practice this would be something I could improve on. I started off using biro as I am confident with it and then I moved onto charcoal which I don’t often use but I tend to enjoy using it. I found that using charcoal allowed me to show more tone within my drawings, however, I had less control with it than the biro.
