Reely and Truly

I am revisiting the film Reelly and Truly because I like the way he places himself at the center of the documentary and uses multiple techniques to express his process.
The introduction of the film explains the project, how he feels about it and the fundamentals of photography from his personal perspective. He interviews his father, the reason he became a photographer to begin with, and uses his own notes to guide the story from subject to subject. He interviews everyone who he believed to have in some way impacted the way he feels about photography, including quotes from books, friends, family, people in the street, places, to create a thesis that explains his perspective.

I am interested how the people who inspire me affect my practice, what I take from them and how I make this my own. I want to use Lebon’s style of film making to help me explore my subjects further.
