Welcome walk with our new undergraduate primary trainees
This week, we welcomed our new and returning undergraduate students back to campus as the academic year begins.
As part of their induction and the university’s Belong at Brighton campaign, students studying on our primary teaching degrees took part in a nature walk.
The two-hour trek took them across the beautiful South Downs National Park towards Stanmer Park before returning to the Falmer campus. It was an excellent opportunity for our students to explore their new home and become familiar with the surrounding area, as well as build friendships with fellow students and staff.
Student, Naomi Clarkson said: “I had a lovely time on the walk. I really enjoyed getting out into nature, seeing the local area and having the chance to talk to lots of different coursemates and staff in a low-stakes environment. As someone who can be shy, going on the walk allowed me to make good connections. I now know lots more friendly faces and feel more settled into the course.”
Cathy Gower, Dean of the School of Education said: “It has been a real pleasure this week to begin to welcome our new and returning students and, again, there is a real buzz about the campus and the Checkland Building particularly.”
