PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT

Please read and sign our Terms of Agreement The University of Brighton ITE Partnership in collaboration with all stakeholders, aims to secure excellent learning experiences for all trainees through a range of rigorous and challenging training opportunities, in order to prepare them for the NQT year and a career in teaching. For those involved in School Direct and EYITT there is a further, specific agreement which is sent to schools directly from the UoB central registry. The ITE Partnership will: • consistently reflect the highest aspirations for trainees and have high expectations of mentors and trainers • ensure that practice is disseminated in a drive for continuous improvement • strive for outstanding and highly relevant practice across the Partnership • contribute to outstanding outcomes for all trainees or, in exceptional circumstances, outcomes that are good and rapidly improving • contribute to outstanding leadership and management of school-based training • maintain an excellent reputation with trainees, former trainees, schools, colleges and/or settings, other partners and employers • ensure that trainees are very well prepared to join the profession as good or better teachers. The school/setting-based training provider will: • prepare trainees to make a positive impact on pupil progress, whilst training and in their early teaching careers • provide a broad and balanced training programme appropriate to trainees' development needs, including a full induction process with a focus on safeguarding pupils • ensure that trainees are covered under the health and safety procedures and risk assessments in place for existing employees • provide supportive supervision and mentoring as appropriate to the school-based training • carry out the assessment and accurate grading of trainees and report to the University as required • communicate with the university over specific trainee-related issues or changers in circumstance • actively lead the design and delivery of ITE programmes through the Partnership in Education Strategic Committee. Deliver, where and when applicable, school-based ITE, taking the lead in key aspects of provision • contribute to the selection of candidates, the monitoring, evaluation and development of courses and partnership arrangements and the assessment of trainee teacher performance • ensure that data gathered is required, accurate, stored securely and shared only as necessary with appropriate consent and clarity of purpose. The school/setting-based training provider will: • prepare trainees to make a positive impact on pupil progress, whilst training and in their early teaching careers • provide a broad and balanced training programme appropriate to trainees' development needs, including a full induction process with a focus on safeguarding pupils • ensure that trainees are covered under the health and safety procedures and risk assessments in place for existing employees • provide supportive supervision and mentoring as appropriate to the school-based training • carry out the assessment and accurate grading of trainees and report to the University as required • communicate with the university over specific trainee-related issues or changers in circumstance • actively lead the design and delivery of ITE programmes through the Partnership in Education Strategic Committee. Deliver, where and when applicable, school-based ITE, taking the lead in key aspects of provision • contribute to the selection of candidates, the monitoring, evaluation and development of courses and partnership arrangements and the assessment of trainee teacher performance. The University of Brighton will: • prepare trainees to make a positive impact on pupil progress, whilst training and in their early teaching careers • ensure the relevant checks are adhered to such as Disclosure and Barring Service and Occupational Health (unless trainees are employment-based) • manage and analyse partnership data to effectively drive improvement • support mentors and professional tutors through training and development, trainee progress reviews by tutors, information to link university and school-based training, involvement in enhanced support and intervention and in the moderation of assessment • administer the training experience and process appropriate payment to school training providers • provide appropriate support and be responsive to feedback received from colleagues, across the ITE Partnership • provide appropriate guidance/handbooks and documents to clarify procedures and expectations. Selection and Deselection of University of Brighton ITE Partnership Schools, Colleges and Settings In entering the UoB ITE Partnership, a school, college or setting is agreeing to: • demonstrate a commitment to the education and training of teachers and ongoing development of the Partnership • offer a broad and balanced programme of trainee professional learning and development which reflects the whole school experience and partnership priorities • be committed to the Partnership’s Vision for the teachers we train • teach an appropriate curriculum demonstrating a commitment to diminishing difference • have capacity to select and develop appropriate mentors in relation to the expectations outlined in the Partnership in Education handbook and the Mentor Standards • be willing to accept the roles and responsibilities as defined in the Partnership in Education handbook. The Partnership Co-ordinator or delegated colleague will discuss becoming a partner with relevant members of school, college and setting-based staff. It is important that all schools, colleges or setting entering into the Partnership should have fully reviewed and considered the relevant Partnership in Education Agreement and Handbook. The University and partners will provide additional support to existing and prospective members of the UoB ITE Partnership who are, in the short term, not able to fully meet the agreements above. This is to ensure that the training provided is of a high standard. If this proves unsuccessful, the University will cease to place trainee teachers in the school or setting concerned with reference to the deselection criteria. Deselection criteria: • persistent non-compliance with the requirements of the Partnership Agreement and Partnership In Education handbook • persistent non-compliance with course requirements such as appropriate opportunity to teach or non-contact time for professional development activity • persistent evidence that progress reviews and developmental feedback has not been provided • university tutors or trainees evaluations persistently reflect concerns over the provision being offered despite support and intervention • significant deviation from the requirements of the Partnership Agreement and Handbook and the commitments of the Partnership outlined above that undermine the progress and wellbeing of trainees. Should a school, college or setting be categorised in special measures following an Ofsted inspection this will not result in deselection as we have a commitment to school improvement. Should the school or setting be hosting trainees, usually another training setting will be sought. However it may be possible for trainees to remain, especially if the improvements to be made do not affect the subject or age range in which the trainee is training or the training phase is near to completion. The Partnership will need to be confident that the trainee will not be disadvantaged by the school experience and that the situation is kept under close review.
