Education BA Employability Programme
The employability programme is an annual event organised for second year students prior to going on their eight week placement.
The aim of the event is to ensure students are fully prepared for employment and life after graduation, that they have the skills and knowledge to secure a job, and that they are confident and ready for work.
This year’s event took place on 1 February where students attended various interactive sessions covering subjects such as:
- how to optimise opportunities for employability through the experience of placement
- identifying and demonstrating employability skills
- understanding the correlation between job specification content and job application content
- enhancing application success
- connecting with employers
- understanding the competencies employers look for and selection processes.
Each year the event is attended by industry guest speakers, and this year we were delighted to be joined by a Head Teacher from a bilingual primary school, the Director of Brighton nursery, Officrèche, the Executive Business Manager for Reed Education and Education BA alumni.
The annual event is always a huge success and is greatly received by both guest speakers and students. It offers students the opportunity to engage and put theory into practice as well as interact and share experiences in their careers to date.
Work placements and a focus on employability is a vital part of the Education BA course and this event highlights the level of support students can expect from our dedicated team here at the University of Brighton.
