Art and Design PGCE exhibition returns to celebrate trainee teachers’ final assignment
This year we welcomed back our annual (Secondary) Art and Design PGCE graduate exhibition at the Falmer campus. The display was been part of an assignment that showcases the hard work of our trainee teachers whilst on placement in schools. The exhibition included a variety of work, from display boards that would be used in the classroom in relation to the curriculum, to the artwork from the school pupils themselves.
Trainee teachers had to select three art and design projects they were involved in whilst in school-based training. Their displays were arranged to communicate what is important to them as developing art teachers.
A celebratory open evening took place on the 9 June which was attended by those who have supported our students in their journey on the PGCE course, so this meant proud family, friends and school mentors were present to congratulate the students.
Course leader, Julie Howard said “The exhibition is a true reflection of the hard work and commitment the students have shown whilst being on the PGCE course. They have all made huge progress since being on the course and this display is a celebration of their joint achievements.
“I’d also like to say a massive thank you to all of the mentors and colleagues we work with in the university and school partnership as this is also down to their ongoing encouragement, inspiration and support too.”
