Applications now open for unmissable opportunity at Glyndebourne!

World-class opera house, Glyndebourne, is offering two residencies to our (Secondary) Art and Design PGCE students. Teaching Artists 2019 is an outstanding opportunity taking place this summer, following two successful years of collaboration between the University of Brighton and Glyndebourne to provide a residency for two Art and Design PGCE students.

Glyndebourne 2017Successful applicants will have access to a wide range of valuable experiences and opportunities including attending Glyndebourne education workshops, access to the Glyndebourne archives and exhibiting work through an online gallery.

Stunning Glyndebourne offers a unique environment and inspiration for artists to explore their practice and produce innovative creative responses. Previous Art and Design PGCE students have commented on the artistic freedom of the brief, and how it allowed them to explore and discover their identity as artists. From observing rehearsals to strolling the elegant gardens, this placement provides an abundance of opportunity and artistic experience to benefit your teaching journey.

(Secondary) Art and Design PGCE course leader, Sally Johnson says: “This is a fantastic opportunity for PGCE Art and Design trainees to immerse themselves with a unique experience of visiting and responding to Glyndebourne over the Summer Festival period. Students will have the opportunity to work alongside top professionals and see a wealth of talent and inspiration in the Opera world including working alongside a visual artist this summer”.

If you are interested in applying for this experience of a lifetime, applications are now open and need to be submitted by Friday 29 March.

The placement requires a minimum of 64 hours spent at Glyndebourne during the length of the project (approximately 8 hours a week from June to the end of August).
