The module encourages students to develop their appreciation and understanding of the properties of materials, in order to construct meaningful and purposeful forms and images in art. Emphasis is placed on the importance and richness of annotated visual research and experimentation that informs new ways of understanding and communicating ideas.
It offers students an opportunity to develop and resolve an individual project brief within a selected focus or theme. Whilst students are exploring these areas at their own level they will also recognise how this can be suitably adapted for the primary classroom.
The exhibition is held as part of final assessments where students have an opportunity to analyse their own creative practice and to engage with current subject pedagogy. Students will also demonstrate opportunities for learning and teaching in art, craft and design in a primary setting.
