The National Society for Education for Art and Design
Lesley Butterworth, General Secretary of The National Society for Education for Art and Design (NSEAD) recently presented to (Secondary) Art and Design PGCE students about the work of the art subject organisation and the place of art and design in the curriculum.
NSEAD is the leading national authority concerned with art, craft and design across all phases of education in the United Kingdom.
The talk addressed current issues and debates regarding art as a subject in primary and secondary education and how we develop a voice and advocacy as secondary art and design teachers for the subject.
Students are encouraged to think about joining the NSEAD, which offers membership of a professional association, a learned society and a trade union.
Once members, they are able to access a wide range of support and materials available. This will also provide invaluable information and support as they progress into their teaching careers.
