I wanted to start experimenting working with colour and creating some kind of painting on print which I think could be used as set backdrop for my editorial. When originally looking at works of the set designers I had researched and particular the prints of Photographer Safo Moncloa, the prints reminded me of watercolours, how the colour was all kind fo washed and blurred. I decided to experiment with water colour using the wet on wet technique to bleed. A though it’s quite hard to create large scale pieces this way, I decided to blow up and zoom in on certain sections of i. I think they appear rather beautiful however, I’m not sure if they represent the strength that I want. I chose to use red as from my theory of colour research I anted to include pure red to add elements of strength but add less saturated tones to add an element of calmness.
Experimenting using photography from Rafael Pavarotti and my water colour bleeds. I actually rather enjoy these once they have been placed alongside a model and a darker setting, the one on the left I find particularly provocative. It did make me consider maybe when it came to my sets, creating the backdrops could be a post production process, however I believe it won’t be as authentic as by me creating and painting it themselves. It also won’t allow the subject to experience the space
