When beginning to think about what I would like to do for my final major project. I knew that I wanted to create something which truly represents me as a creative and will give me something I will feel confident going out into industry and presenting to future employers.
I always get quite worried about having to have a meaning behind the work that I do, as I feel it makes me less creative. Because I’m so busy thinking about everything having a deeper meaning and purpose that I lose focus on what I originally wanted to create. I just want to make something beautiful, and have it look good.
before I started at the University of Brighton I originally was going to study interior architecture. However when I went to an interview at Oxford Brooks University which was originally my university of choice for interior architecture, the course leader looked at my sketchbook and instantly told me that I would not fit this course because I do not have the patience to make small tiny intricate models and I’m too experimental. I took that to heart and didn’t go to uni that year to decide what I was going to. But now I’ve decided I want to use the elements of interior design that I’m interested in and combine it with my love for creative direction, styling and photography which I’ve developed over the last three years. I’m going to do set design as my main practise for this project.
