Experimentation of The White Shirt

My initial idea was to deconstruct and reconstruct, however after experimenting by cutting up the shirt and reassembling it I found the final piece didn’t represent this powerful garment which I had been researching.

Kawakubo did not consider highlighting the female body shape in her collection… which was the trend at the time, “Rei infused padding at random places in the garments, making models seem as though they had lumps and bumps in the strangest of places.” Thus  wanted my shirt to not highlight the figure beneath and through covering my shirts in plastic I aimed for them to be sculptures which hold their own and represent strength.
