The New Black Film Collective (TNBFC) and University of Brighton’s Donor Research proudly announce their collaborative effort to present the second film in their Films For Life series, “Pretty Red Dress,” at Komedia in Brighton. This cinematic celebration, scheduled for the 14th of February 2023, at 7:30 PM, aligns with both LGBT History Month and Valentine’s Day.
“Pretty Red Dress,” a poignant creation by debut writer and director Dionne Edwards, explores the compelling story of Travis, recently released from prison, and the intricate dynamics of his family as they navigate a world transformed during his absence. The film features breakthrough performances from Natey Jones, Temilola Olatunbosun, and Alexandra Burke.
This special screening, hosted by The New Black Film Collective and University of Brighton’s Donor Research, aims to raise awareness of blood donation eligibility for men within the LGBTQ+ community. The event will include a Tina Turner tribute, LGBTQ+ History Month celebration, and a special Valentine screening, providing a memorable evening of cinema and advocacy.
