Recently a team from Donors Research presented at the University of Brighton’s Interprofessional Education conference. The conference is held once a year and brings together various healthcare disciplines to discuss a variety of topics. Students from pharmacy, biomedical science, nursing, nurse associates, podiatry and occupational therapy courses attended.
We delivered our presentation on organ donation and used case reports for clinical examples. The group work involved discussing why families decline organ donation for their loved one, why and when healthcare staff should consider organ donation for their patients and some barriers to discussing organ donation with both staff and patients.
It was great to see the engagement of all involved and we look forward to coming back next year!
