Recognising Excellence in Education and the Student Experience (REESE) Awards
We are delighted to receive University of Brighton’s REESE Award for 2022!!
The Team was founded on the ambition to provide a platform where academics and students collaborate to address the organ shortage in the UK especially amongst the Black and Asian communities. As organ donation and transplantation and the impact of the recent change in law is not an integral part of the HE curriculum there is a gap in knowledge and support for young adults in understanding the importance of registering an informed choice on the National Health Service – Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) donor register.
This interdisciplinary team are passionate about promoting a better understanding of the complexities that surround organ donation and the transplantation pathway for our students and, this year, worked with a group of students to co-design and co-deliver online awareness education events. The Event Management Team designed an interactive presentation that included several digital tools such as Kahoot ® to run a quiz and Padlet ® and Menti ® to capture responses during discussion sessions. The Social Media Team posted infographics about debunking the myths of organ donation and engaging in public discourse (Instagram and Twitter) and the Event Evaluation Team learned about survey design that measured the participant’s knowledge, attitudes and behaviour.
