Research Poster Competition 2016

Brighton Doctoral College is delighted to announce the Research Poster Competition for 2017.  This competition will recognise and reward the quality and diversity of research being conducted across the University of Brighton. The winning posters will be announced at the Festival of Postgraduate Research’s closing reception on Friday 19th May 2017 from 16.15 in Checkland Asa Briggs Foyer, Falmer,

The research poster entries will be on display in the foyer of the Checkland Asa Briggs Hall from 1pm on Wednesday 17th May until the close of the festival. Posters entered into the competition will also be displayed online for one week prior to the event to ensure they reach as wide an audience as possible.

All posters will be eligible for the People’s Choice Prize in addition to the Staff/Research Student prizes.

Eligibility
Posters are welcome from all research students* and research active staff across the university and may be submitted by individuals or groups. Only one entry per person/group is permitted. You can view entries from the previous competitions online.

Content
Applicants are invited to submit a poster which summarises their research to non-subject specialists. The poster should include the title of the research, author(s) and their school or college.

Please note, this competition is for posters only; there will be no accompanying oral presentation. The poster has to do the talking!

Judging criteria
The Staff and Research Student prizes will be assessed according to two criteria which are equally weighted. Entries must therefore equally address both the following:

  • Poster Design – visual presentation and communication of ideas.
  • Research Content – the quality of the research described in the poster and how easily this can be understood by non-subject specialists.
