Could you – and your cake – rise to our Bake your Thesis challenge?
Back for its second, glorious year, Bake your Thesis invites doctoral students to represent their research in cake (or other baked goods) form! The aim is to distil and communicate the essence of your research via the medium of culinary creativity. Think of it as research poster meets the Great British Bake Off.
Last year, we had some wonderfully inventive, elaborate cakes which generated a great deal of delight and amusement among festival attendees.
Once again, the sweet (or savoury) submissions will be unveiled during the afternoon of the Festival of Postgraduate Research. Research Student Administrators at the Doctoral College will decide on the winner but won’t be slicing up the cakes so don’t fret about soggy bottoms or setting our tastebuds tingling. We’re interested in how your creation encapsulates your research. The lucky winner, or winning team, will take home a fantastic goody bag and our, ahem, prestigious trophy.
You can participate as an individual or group. To join in the fun, please complete the online application form by 20 May and then bring your cake along on the day of the festival (22 May).

Good luck! We cannot wait to see what this year’s competition brings!
