One of the university’s eSubmission and eFeedback tools, Turnitin, provides a similarity checking feature which can be used to promote good referencing practice and to detect academic misconduct. If used formatively, it can help students understand what is meant by plagiarism and improve their referencing practices. The similarity report can also be be used by staff to identify possible cases of academic misconduct.
