sequins + fish
On Friday the 20th I had a session with Joao completing bits of my sketchbook that weren’t finished and a tutorial with Noel. This was really helpful because all the pieces of researched I’ve done are now linked and I feel more confident in completing my zine.
I then went home and experimented more with collage and ate lots of fish. I love sequins and think this technique is very effective as photographing the collage flattens the image.

emoticon fruit
On Thursday the 19th I photographed lots of fruit and a plant to be used as backgrounds or layers in a collage in my webzine. I used brightly coloured card to create contrasting backgrounds that look unnatural but pleasing to the eye. I made some fruit transparent to make them easier to layer.
I took inspiration for the types of fruit I used from emojis which are currently very big in popular culture. I will also use these to layer over pages of my fanzine to add colour and an element of fun.
american apparel
On the 16th I did a photoshoot with my friend, Kit. I wanted to recreate an American Apparel style using bright clothes, muted or white backgrounds, a naturally attractive model, minimal editing and the in-built camera flash. I really like these images and think they will work well within my fanzine.
html
On the 6th I had a session with Joao on html. I’ve done quite a bit of HTML and CSS editing in the past so found it really easy, but I still learned a few things I didn’t know before so I’m really glad I attended! I plan to make the layout of my fanzine fun and interactive and innovative.
february 2nd collage
On Monday the 2nd Aaro gave use a lecture and workshop on collage which gave me lots of inspiration for collages I could create.
Here are some collages I made in the workshop from Elle Magazine cutouts. I researched Tony Oursler, Rene Magritte and Arnulf Rainer after the workshop and painted/drew over some of the collages.
