The Klaus Flugge shortlist was announced this week.  Set up to honour Klaus Flugge, founder of Andersen Press, this award is for the most promising and exciting newcomer to children’s picture book illustration.

One Fox - front cover

Kate Read’s thriller is a one-to-ten counting book with a twist in the tail.  The poor fox starts off famished and ends up frightened, but, thankfully, ‘no hens or foxes were harmed in the making of this book’.  The beautiful illustrations are digitally created using a mixture of collage and monoprint in warm, glowing colours.

  1. Some excellent texts. I love this publisher, Klaus has always had a great eye and intellect for picture fiction.
