Lifeboat is a very special family event created in response to the refugee crisis. Join Brighton’s own multi-award winning Emily Gravett as she captains her incredibly creative crew featuring many of the nations’ best loved children’s authors and illustrators: Anthony Browne, Polly Dunbar, Axel Sheffler, A.F. Harrold, Tim Hopgood and many more…
Climb aboard the lifeboat for: performances, puppetry, poets, painting, Phoenix Comics, playing and making and much much more… Every penny raised from both this live event, and the accompanying auction of original artworks and signed books will go to the School Bus Project who have been funding full time teaching in the Calais Jungle Camp since January.
Now in the second stage of their development, the School Bus Project is in the process of converting a double-decker bus into a fully resourced mobile classroom, complete with on-board solar power and IT resources. Designed to go right into the refugee camps the bus along with their teachers will provide education to forcibly displaced people and the communities in which they find themselves.
There’s also an exciting auction of artwork raising funds for the School Bus Project, running from June 1st – 17th. If you would like to bid or just peruse the images, please visit www.jumblebee.co.uk/lifeboat
