More than 200 children from ten schools across the UK voted to decide the winners in each category. The Spy Who Loved School Dinners, written by Pamela Butchart and illustrated by Thomas Flintham, has won the Best Story Award. The Silly Book of Side-Splitting Stuff, written by Andy Seed and illustrated by Scott Garrett, has won the Best Book with Facts Award. The enormously popular Blue Peter Book Awards, which celebrate the best authors, most creative illustrators and the greatest reads for children, are managed by Booktrust.

Yes they both look really good. I especially like the idea that someone who loves school dinners must surely be suspicious! I have ordered copies for the Curriculum Centre so we should have them in soon. It’s a shame that The Boy in the Tower didn’t win though as I really enjoyed reading that book. I might be biased though as I love a bit of sci-fi in children’s books.
