Why a website?

As my art is predominantly digital; using a website is a form of art in itself.

The artistic process of making a website begins with deciding on an inspiration, a topic, a theme or an issue I’d like to explore and present to the public.

In this case, it involves presenting and submitting my work as a ‘digital portfolio’ (following the brief guidelines for Independent Practice module).

Once i’ve decided on the theme and topic… it’s time to let the ‘design’ shine!

This involves thinking critically about the way I want my audience to view the information and content. I often use templates but code in my own elements such as post excerpts, colour schemes and embedded links.

For me, websites are a form of art because they combine my pre-existing technical knowledge (as a trained theatre technician) and my skills as an artist (design).

To me… digital portfolio screams ‘website’. I hope you agree!
