Franz Kafka; a novelist with an extraordinary mind.
The Metamorphosis by Kafka is a play rooted in systemic oppression and the communist regime. It follows the life of salesman Gregor Samsa and his struggle to adapt to life as a ‘new creature’… a bug.
Kafka’s work inspires me to create work that is rooted in ‘deeper issues’ surrounding my life: disability, mental health and my relationship as I adapt to the ever changing world around me.
Kafka’s work inspires to to create work that is over sensory… in order to help others gain a glimpse into what life is like for me as a neuro-diverse person trying to navigate the world.
Here’s my work inspired by Kafka:
The Greggor Experiment. MelanCOly Creatives Co. Performed at The Edric Theatre, London South Bank University. 2018.
I play a doctor who is engrossed with ‘experimenting’ on human subjects, pushing them to the limits of human endurance by exposing them to many media including bright lights, live performed soundscapes and physically demanding exercises.
