My fascination with hands continued to grow after my expereinces at Pheonix Studios…
I remembered seeing a copy of Michelangelo’s ‘Creation of Adam’ at a gallery in London when I was younger and was mesmorised by such a simple hand movement….
The hands here remind me that often the small movements are the most powerful- and I should look out for any small movements or signals people are giving me. I don’t often recognise feelings or emotions in others… so being able to concentrate on their body language is very important and lets me know what they are trying to tell me.
I decided that using my own hands to draw these hands would be an artwork in itself. And I gave myself a challenge of sketching them… in public… in 45minutes.
I used a layer to get the right shape, then removed it and used ink pens on my iPad Pro to create the lines and shading.
As somebody who doesn’t really draw alot; I am enjoying learning about the different effects I can achieve using my iPad.
I am growing in confidence as a visual theatre artist… taking on challenges that push me to expand my craft and creative practice into new places.
