Nature & Gender

The power of colour and nature on gender identity:

For this Shoot, we wanted to incorporate, Style, colour, and gender. Challenging the gaze of the masculine and Feminine. For this Shoot we used a new set of models that Ruby had contacted. Using bright colours against the green and blue background, they constructed a visual aspect that encapsulated the concept of gender and its connection with nature. Ruby went on to use graphic design techniques to further solidify the theme of surrealism.

I used this shoot, to accompany my fabric article as it not only highlighted the points that I identified. but also allowed me to unite my writing with Visual promotion.

I was disappointed to not be able to accompany in this shoot however i tried my best to communicate what i was writing about so it would link with the imagery. This along with traveling it meant some of these shoots i had a hand in planning but couldn’t make the final shoot. Given i was the editorial writer, there also didn’t seem a need for me to be there.

I was really please with the outcome of this images. i like how it expressed how gender is deeper and interchangeable. the see through clothes into another scene presented a sense that there is gender identity is a wide expression of ones self.
