Finalizing our theme
Mood boards and mapping out our theme.
Here is a brainstorm of some of the main themes we want our magazine to foster, this was a brilliant exercise for our team as we were all quite lost, and to create a clear direction with possible themes to explore and the creation of an audience persona it meant we could now direct our work to a direct topic. As we had previously been double-guessing all of our work and the direction of the magazine.
This benefitted me as it allowed me to see the themes that we would be focusing on and allowed me to think for myself what topics I wanted to branch out when it came to my writing.
I then went on to draft our magazine’s statement to try and bring all of these themes together and put our ideas into writing. I thought that this way it would solidify our group’s ideas and ease pressure through clarity.
This was not only beneficial for the magazine and our members, but for myself too as it allowed me to tap back into my writing and find a tone for our magazine and highlight the key motivations behind its creation this being ‘affirmation, belonging and inspiration’.
The group then went on to build, a mood board for the colour scheme, styles and visual aspects. This enable us to see the different colours we could use for typography and styling so that everything was complementary and engaging.
I enjoyed this exercise as I could see the group coming together for a common cause. It left many of us with jobs to fulfil and then come back to the group with our ideas and bodies of work.
