Forgotten Histories

Forgotten Histories 2

I’m quite happy with my final comic which I’ve titled Forgotten Histories. Unfortunately, due to the time limit I realised it would’ve been unrealistic to create the whole storyboard that I had originally planned, as I didn’t want to sacrifice the quality of my pieces. However I think that the storyline still flows well and conveys the most significant events to the reader. I also decided to make any of the male figures in the comic silhouettes only. This was in response to some feedback from my peers who suggested that the male figures were taking away from Alexandra, and I wanted to ensure that she would be the focal point throughout. To improve, I would have experimented with this more, and maybe used negative space instead of black silhouettes. I think that the combination of gouache and colour pencil worked really well, and I’m happy with how much I was able to experiment with gouache and improve throughout this project. As I chose to use analogue techniques to create my pieces, I chose to edit the comic digitally, to ensure I was continually pushing myself out of my comfort zone, I used Photoshop to correct my paintings, and Indesign for my final layout, and I’m really pleased with my results.
