For the first part of my research I watched the documentary My Octopus Teacher. The story of how the filmmaker who was in crisis, found joy and purpose through immersion in nature and his relationship with the octopus really inspired me. I think that I would like for there to be a mental health journey in my comic, as it’s an issue that really interests me but I haven’t had much chance to explore, although I’m unsure what this journey will be at the moment.

These are some drawings and paintings I did whilst watching the documentary. I want to draw sea creatures as often as I can and this documentary showed a really beautiful environment and animals I had never seen before. I kept the film playing while I did these drawings because I wanted to focus on capturing their movement, which I usually struggle with.
