Pruden &Smith Jewellers’

I visited Pruden & Smith when Anton Pruden, Dunstan Pruden’s grandson works. I was shown around the shop itself and the workshop downstairs. Interestingly they had an old design drawing of Dunstan’s which was very beautiful, but I couldn’t take a proper photo because it was in a frame with a shiny surface on the front.

They do some things made from the original masters of his objects, like silver spoons with angels on the handles and crucifix pendants. Another thing that was interesting is that they were commissioned to produce chalices and pattens for Worth Abbey, with the work alongside furniture designed by Thomas Heatherwick. There was a prototype for comparison to the final professional photographs of the pieces. The goblets had unscrewable stems so you can remove sections and have different heights. DSC_0087
