Your Careers Service online – changing up a storm for 17/18

Yes indeedy, it’s taken some doing (and then some more doing) but the new Careers site is out there for your perusal and (hopefully) pleasure. Based on feedback from your good selves we’ve restructured and rearranged to make all the cool stuff available with a swipe and a tap – like this…

Deciding what career is right for me – it’s not just about what you can do, don’t forget to consider what it is you really *want* to do. Research your career options and find graduate jobs and specialist advice and support in your chosen industry/ies.

Help with CVs, applications and interviews – get tips on CVs for work and academic applications, covering letters, online/phone/in-person interviews, assessment centres, psychometric tests.

How to find a job – for everything from part time work on and off-campus, student and graduate placements and internships, Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP), networking, making a splash on LinkedIn, generating leads through speculative applications.

Meet employers on and off-campus – upcoming events on campus and how to make the most of them, where to find information about off-campus events.

Mentoring – find out about and applying to join one of our range of mentoring programmes to boost your confidence and gain extra employability skills, including improved confidence, listening skills, cooperation and strategic thinking. We’re recruiting right now!

Volunteering – whether you’re in your last year of university or your first, you can develop your employability skills, add to your CV, and make new connections by volunteering with Active Student and STEM Sussex.

Start your own business – beepurple is the university’s entrepreneurship service; here to support any student or graduate with their business idea, freelance plan or social enterprise project.

Postgraduate study – considering (or currently pursuing) study at Masters level or higher? These resources will help you make informed decisions about personal motivation, choosing the university and course for you, funding your study or research and planning for your next steps after completing.

Resources – an at-a-glance guide to our vacancy service, social media outlets and on-campus facilities.

As always, if you can’t find what you’re looking for let us know. We won’t hold it against you (much) and if we can plug the gaps rest assured we will. It’s your site and your service. Make the most of it.
