Introducing you to our beepurple placement student, Chris Sylvester
Hello beepurplers! My name is Christopher Sylvester and I am a second year student studying BA (Honours) Education at the University of Brighton. As part of my course, I have been presented with the opportunity to work on a placement with beepurple and conduct a small-scale research inquiry.
The main aim of the placement is to provide an opportunity for me to apply effectively my knowledge and understanding of education in a working context. The small-scale inquiry I am to complete during my time with beepurple is designed with the intention of helping me to develop my research skills, in preparation for my dissertation in third year.
My research will be focusing on the reasons behind the decision made by international students to travel to the United Kingdom and study undergraduate courses at University. To allow me to gather the data required for this research, I will need to talk directly to students and am therefore looking for volunteers who are willing to assist me by answering a number of simple questions about their university experience. The volunteer can be in any stage of undergraduate study but will need to be considered an international student. The scheduling for these meetings is relatively flexible and can be arranged to fit within the timetables of the volunteers, although I do hope to have gathered enough data for my inquiry by the end of March/early April. Any assistance you can provide will be much appreciated and rewarded with sweets during our meeting!
