Assignment 3: A Demonstration Of Studio Lighting In Blender

How to make studio lighting in Blender

This part of the blog I have recorded and illustrated a demonstration of some of the perks that this technology has to offer when creating studio like lighting in Blender.

Many product shots today are impeccably made renders as computer programs can virtually change all the variables of a photoshoot rather than using a physical studio space, lighting equipment, etc. This also allow the opportunity to work without real life imperfections such as dust and the need to hold props into place.

In this video I show the process of creating a studio lighting environment using Blender, demonstrating the technologies in blender using a model of the Herman Miller Eames moulded plastic chair as my subject.

In the video I have demonstrated how to:

  • correctly frame and set up the camera;
  • set up a 3 point light set up;
  • set up a studio backdrop;
  • change lighting and camera settings; and
  • change backdrop background colour.
